Since the Middle Ages the military need for castles has disappeared, but their appeal to those who could afford to build them has never diminished. Castles continue to appeal to our imaginations and our appreciation for their architectural style and grandeur.
Our research staff has provided this list of books for anyone interested in the history, development, design, construction details, stonework, and uses of European medieval castles.
